Glyphosate Application and Potential Eleusine Indica Resistance in Oil Palm Plantations

نویسندگان

چکیده

Eleusine indica is a grass weed in oil palm plantations, especially during the period of immature crops. The application glyphosate for control shows diverse effectiveness. This study aims to determine age susceptible weeds increasing effectiveness controlling E. indica. tested with three levels (486, 729, and 972 g/ha) at different ages (3, 6, 9 weeks). was taken from plantations that were previously glyphosate-depleted, then sprayed according dose studied. Each treatment combination represented by five pots containing individual weeds. results showed aged six weeks higher controlled doses 486 729 than nine-week all tested. Regrowth found mainly month weeks. development indica's resistance needs attention plantations.

Multiple resistance across glufosinate, glyphosate, paraquat and ACCaseinhibiting herbicides in an Eleusine indica population

An Eleusine indica population was previously reported as the first global case of field-evolved glufosinate resistance. This study re-examines glufosinate resistance and investigates multiple resistance to other herbicides in the population. Dose–response experiments with glufosinate showed that the resistant population is 5-fold and 14-fold resistant relative to the susceptible population, bas...

Palm oil production through sustainable plantations

The Malaysian oil palm industry is one of the most highly organised sectors of any national agriculture system of the world. Today, though, the focus has shifted to how well agriculture also meets universally accepted standards of sustainability. This paper highlights the development of oil palm cultivation and responsible farming practices in Malaysia, the world’s largest producer of palm oil....

Palm Oil and Palm Waste Potential in Indonesia

The expansion of oil palm cultivation in Indonesia has been driven by a strong world demand for food especially fats and oils. Commencing in the island of Sumatra, it spread out to other island like Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Irian but not to the island of Bali which was already well developed. The role of palm oil in developing remote inland regions and improving the standard of living of rural ...

Carbon emissions from forest conversion by Kalimantan oil palm plantations

Oil palm supplies >30% of world vegetable oil production1. Plantation expansion is occurring throughout the tropics, predominantly in Indonesia, where forests with heterogeneous carbon stocks undergo high conversion rates2–4. Quantifying oil palm’s contribution to global carbon budgets therefore requires refined spatio-temporal assessments of land cover converted to plantations5,6. Here, we rep...

Evolution of a double amino acid substitution in the 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase in Eleusine indica conferring high-level glyphosate resistance.

Glyphosate is the most important and widely used herbicide in world agriculture. Intensive glyphosate selection has resulted in the widespread evolution of glyphosate-resistant weed populations, threatening the sustainability of this valuable once-in-a-century agrochemical. Field-evolved glyphosate resistance due to known resistance mechanisms is generally low to modest. Here, working with a hi...
